As much gear as I have, as many lakes as I've fished and fish that I've caught, I've always stood by one piece of equipment as being a sure thing; A Rapala Silver Minnow, floating, tied with a fishermans knot, tossed right to shore (in PERFECTLY calm water), then jigged slowly back to the boat. Early morning is the best, when the big bass are feeding, or late evenings, just before the sun goes down.
Unbeatable!!!

Do you run that like a zaraspook? I havent tried one of those. I have a hard time keeping a spook walking the dog for a long distance. I can get like 10 ' and then I mess up LOL

Yeah, that's why I need the water to be perfectly calm, which is easy at BL with all the bays and inlets.

You heard right, it can whip up pretty fast and roll pretty good. There's always the protected bays and leeward sides of islands, however.

When the water is realy flat in the morning or just before dark my favorite lure is a Smithwick Devil Horse in the Yellow with Black Stripes!

Suggestion for walking the dog... If you can get your hands on one try a Berkley frenzy walker (They aren't in production anymore). This is one bait you can "walk" through a tsunami. Come to think of it there might still be one hanging in a tree right by the docks of Dashnaw's camp Wildwood. Arkansas shiner if I remember correctly. Also, don't use flourocarbon lines with your top-waters as they tend to sink faster than mono and will kill the action or your lures. FISHNGUY
