I'll be up June 2nd and will visit our favorite spots but I'm looking for some new water. How's the pike fishing in Grindstone and Mile arm bay. I do have a Hot Spots map but would like to here from the guys on the lake. FISHNGUY

we make it a regular stop to the very southern end of the Lake each trip and Mile Arm Bay is high on the list for one of our favorites hotspots. This is the site of (a couple of years ago) my brother aka "livebait" having a nice sized Northern (8lbs) almost take a finger with him! We have had success there drifting the Eastern shoreline in typically 8-12 ft depths with shiners along the bottom. We would drift out along (past) T Island then pull in go back up and try a different distance from shore. Another helpful hint is to use a floating marker to mark your location at the start of your drift. This way when you go back up thru the same area you know exactly where you started your drift.....and if your successful in that "pass" you won't have to guess where you started......also if you are not successful and want to try another area this will assist in relocating as well (ie 20 yds further or even closer to shore). When drifting I always use a roadrunner on one of our poles with a 2-3in shiner. We have done well locating either Walleye or Larger Crappies......we have even caught a few Northerns on the rr as well. As far Grindstone Bay goes we havent had much success there BUT we honestly have not given a lot of effort there either. We have other favorite areas in that neck of the Lake which always seems to preoccupy our fishing time. Hope this helps somehow. Jim

Mile Arm Bay is my beck of the woods. Everything JimB saaid is true. At the south end of the lake is a small creek, and from there to the rocks is awseome. Also, between the northern point, coming out of the bay and T Island.

the creek you are referring to, is it called Grass Creek? Which according to my newest Hotspots map it empties into the Southern end of Mile Arm Bay. Quite honestly I never recognized the fact a creek empties there......thanks for the info ! Jim

It IS called grass creek, and looking at the maps, it flows out of butterfiled lake in Redwood. Of course, MOST of the year, it's a drybed creek, or overgrown with vegetation, but right now, you can boat pretty far up it. I've caught some nice spring Northern in that creek.

That little creek is one of my favorites spots for early season crappie. This year is going to be tuff though because the lake level is down for this time of year. Try across in Lee's Bay, there's always some decent northerns running the weed line there and an accasional walley too.

Checked my hot spots map and couldn't find Lee's Bay. Where is it? FISHNGUY
