Made my first trip of the year to Black Lake today. Launched at 5:00 AM and started with a buzz bait. Only one short one, switched to jig and pig and hit the mother load. Within a couple hours had caught about a dozen Largemouths with 3 that measured legal. Tried creatures, worms, senkos, and finally tubes before I could get a big fish bite going. With the wind coming out of the North made fishing some of the weed beds interesting, but the wind was the key. If the wind was stirring up the water the fish bit, if you were in calm water, short fish or nothing. Final tally after coming in at 5:00 PM 9 fish out of 28 were legal, 2 were well over 4 pounds on a digital scales, 1 was a solid 3 1/2 pounds, and the rest I did not bother to weight, just measured, 15 to 17 inches was average. Had a couple shorts that probably weighted over 2 pounds apiece as well. Did not see or catch a Smallmouth, Northern, or a Walleye which I thought was a bit unusual, but did not miss getting bit off. Going to try for a repeat next Wednesday. ;D See ya'll on the water.
