I've heard some good things about these lures from some friends that fish bass tourneys. They seem to work well over the grass and slop. Anybody used them yet ?? I wouldn't want to be the first one to use them at BL and be using something the fish haven't seen and might just like, I just wouldn't be able to live with myself, yeah right. Anybody, anybody at all with info?? Ridg

Nice to see someone actually using the page again.
Well I did use the horny toad bait in the fall on Black lake and it did payoff in the thickest weeds I could find. I fished it extremely slow, letting it sink in the open pockets in the weeds. Bucket mouths liked it more then Northerns, but as hot as the weather and the water was, water was aroung 80 degrees, nothing was co-operating as it would normally be in September. I was impressed enough that the "toad" now has a place in my tackle bag. Fish it fast or slow it works..
Counting the days til May when I'll be back to Black for some Northern action..

Ridg, I used them at B/L last June, and missed some bites. Hook ups improved when I used them with Stren Super Braid. No stretch= more hook ups. Another way we rig them when the weeds aren't too thick,or over submerged weed beds, use a 5/0 Eagle Claw weedless hook, with the wire weed guard. That way you have more hook exposed. Just thread a glass bead on your line B4 tying on the hook. This helps to deflect the weeds.
