Has anyone done a lot of drop shotting on BL? How shallow can you go into the weeds? I ask because there is one big smallmouth living under the dock in about 9 inches of water.
what is a good plastic and weight size to use?

yes I have and yes I do . My suggestion would be p/u a strike king 3x "Zulu Jerk bait" carolina rig it and be more patient than him.......trust me he will eventually get annoyed, pissed, or hungry and attack the "floating" plastic....very soft plastic at that. Jim PS my favorite color is pumpkin/chartruesse

Well Jim, Thanks! I have tried several baits on different line lengths with different presentations. Nada, Zip, Zilch. But I will try the Zulu Jerk bait...

Hey Buzz, Drop shotting is generally done over suspended fisn. I din't know how effective it would be since he's under the dock. I'd try the carolina rig also but with a floating lizzard. If there is enough space under the dock try putting a fly over his head and let it sink past him.

Well it is my dock, ha ha. So I did both. Seems over the past weekend the fly rod had the most action. Even for the pan fish. He grabbed a drop shot 3" gray Slugo even though it didn't float. Now I have to learn how to set the hook!!!!!!!!
Anyone have a preferred hook? circle hook? A Favorite size?

I like the octupuss or circle hooks. Many times when drop shotting I gut hook them since I don't feel the take all the time. The ciccle hook will actually slide through the gullet fairly easily and get caught in the corner of their mouths. Give them a try, FISHNGUY
