Besides being a fish attractant, scents can have another use in your boat. If you put gas in your boat, pump up the ball, have some engine problem, scratch your butt or whatever, now it's on your hands and it's on every lure or piece of bait you touch. You wipe your hands on your towel, now it's on your towel and you put back on your hands every time you use it. You can get unscented soap and leave a hunk in your boat, but if you have nothing, spray or squirt or dip your hand in whatever scent you like to use and rub it into your hands. This will help mask any unwanted odors on you hands. It is also a good idea to 2 towels on board. One for what you don't want on your hands( gas, oil, etc ) and one for what you do.(good old fish smell )

That's good advice! I keep a can of WD-40 on board and spray my hands with that!

Bilbo:
Good thought!
I personally put a good after-shave or expensive cologne on my hands because I'm not interested in catching those runty male bass. I'm after those mama hog bass! ;D

Stainless Steel "soap bars". Yes, they do work - at least in theory. I've never sprung for the real thing. If just rub your hands on a sink it will help to take away the smell, of course the sink must be stainless steel.
I don't know if it works with gas, deoderant, and stinky fish, but it does okay with garlic and onion odors.

I'm sure most of us are hunters also. Try keeping a small bottle of scent killer on board. Works for me. Also, at the end of the day I like to lightly spray down the carpet on the boat. This keeps the garage from smelling like a cleaning station.
