Cant say as I have 1 hot spot. Depends on the day and the weather and the moon. ect. But basically any back in bay area. Serene, sometimes crazy with the excitement of a big BL bass. Shallow water, weeds and lilys. And my special weapon. Lol.

Special weapon?? Hmmmm ;D
For me, there are several spots I like, but still haven't gotten out of the southern part of the lake much to explore some of the places I keep hearing about. The best is Bigge Bay in the spring, when the Bass are spwning. The Northern come in to feed onthe eggs, and I MAY have lost a Muskie there, or something huge that eats right through firewire

We found an amazing Hot Spot last year. It was a transition area from weeds to rocks leading back into a little cove. We caught walleye, pike, smallies, crappie, and a few big catfish all from the same spot.
Now lets see, where was that place again . . . I can't quite remeber . . . .
Honestly, though - we found that any area where the weed beds thinned out and turned into rocky bottom was dynamite. Especially if there was deeper water nearby.

I have had good luck in upper big bay. Plastics for bass is always alot of fun. I like to start my trip there and move on if we only get get a couple. More times than not it is a good place to start. I pick up pike in the spring and bass all year long. Well bass all season long.

First let me say Great Site, nice job!! As far as Hot Spots, anywhere on Black lake is good. As a guy that lived in New Jersey for 32 yrs, fishing a lake like BL has been nothing but good. Ive been going to the lake for only two years but my go to starting places are, Lonesome bay, brown bay, orchard bay, upper deep bay and the pimple. Hot spot maps really do work. I get luckey and fish during the week and its not as crowded as on weekends I'm sure. For now its a week in the spring and a week in the fall, hopefully more then that soon. The new Targa 16 takes the lake great, even in the normal windy conditions. Looking forward to May 16th and some hungry northerns..

I've never gone north of the Edwarsville bridge to fish because there has never been a reason to go there. I start in Big Bay (near our camp) and sometimes never leave there. IOther times we go to some speacial spots down the narrows, up Indian River or down near Wood Island. The trick is to get our bait in the water!

Thats what I like about Black. You can fish any place and get fish. We stay near the bridge but always make it down to big bay. I agree get your line in the water as fast as you can. The BL monster could be right off your dock.

Sounds like Big Bay is quite the hot spot. Does it get crowded or overfished?

I have only been fishing Black lake since the 1st crappie derby, have gone 2-3 times a year ever since. Have stayed on both sides of the bridge and don't really have a preference. I have finally gotten a big enough boat/motor to go anywhere on the lake even if it gets rough. Got smater also, I take the hotspots map with me now. Maybe this year I can get a gps to go with the rest of my gear. Want to explore east of the islands below the bridge and fish creek a little more. With gas prices up I have convinced the wife that we should stay longer than a week each trip this year. I am checking now to see which camps offer discounts for 2 week stays. Love to fish Black Lake!

I'm surprised it took 9 responses before someone mentioned the HotSpots map. I've reaquainted myself with the lake after an absence of nearly 40 years and found the HotSpots map to be most helpful. If one spot didn't produce we moved to the next and always managed to catch enough fish to keep me and the grandson entertained. One of the great things about the lake is that there are so many land marks that these spots can be located without a GPS. (Hope the wife doesn't read that as a GPS is my next purchase). I haven't spent enough time on the lake to develope my own Hot Spots.

Just wondering if anyone has tried church shoals. If you have what works there. I check it oout on the hot spots map. Are there any land marks to help find it.
