I haven't ever fished for bullhead, but I've heard they are fun to catch and taste great.
We'll be at BL in mid May. How should I go about catching a bucket of these guys?
And what are some good ways to cook them?

Bullheads are our favorite fish with a once yearly Walleye takeing top prize. To catch a bucket of Bullheads from Black Lake you only need a tin of nite crawlers and the sun needs to be to be down. There are several ways to improve on this technique but they aren't required. Our grankids go thru about 3 of those tins of worms a night. I like to use leaches and have two hooks tied on the line. You'd be suprised how many times you will catch two at a time! Almost every time you go out and start at sun down you will have a bucket load by 10 PM. I also like to use these little floresent lights that you can mount on the tip of your pole so you can tell when one has picked up the bait. Some times we light a kerosene lantern and keep it on the shore. It seems to call them in! There are other tricks that won't be discussed on this board. Clean them by emptying the cavity, remove the head, skin and thorns. Dip them in egg and four and pan fry or put thru a turkey fryer set for fish. I bet we have cleaned 50 a nite at times. They freese good and taste great all summer. That makes "Catch and Release" of Walleyes a little more possible. Good luck and don't forget to report on your trip!

Thats great info - thanks.
Where is the best place to fish for them? We'll be staying at the Log Cabins. Can we just fish off the docks, or de we need to go out in the boat somewhere?

Bullheading is almost always done from shore. The only time I'd get in a boat to do it would be to go to a spot near shore that you know Bullheads are thick in but you can't walk to the shore line.

This is NICE weather to have just before a Bullhead run. The nitecrawlers are tick on the lawn!
