I drove through the village one day. the town is so small that both sides of the sign say welcome to Hammond.

Hammond looks pretty sleepy now but in the 60's there were hardware/fishing supply stores on the corners with lots of live bait. Nice resturants etc etc. We used to stay over at oak point back then, also called chippawa creek. The fishing seemed alot better then. we did'nt start fishing black lake until the first crappie derby.
