Sounds like you had a ball. What did you take your pike on? Did you get into any crappie? We'll be headin' up for one glorious week come Sunday. Hope to match your success!!!

Almost all our pike were taken on either floating or suspending (depending on weed growth) jerk baits. I was on the black/ gold Husky Jerk, pop was on a chartruse and our friend went with a Yozuri Crystal Minnow in the blue/chrome. We always throw different patterns to try and get them figured out but on this trip it didn't seem to matter. The most productive spots had water temps between 68 and 70 degrees. Old hot-spots with higher temps were very poor. We've never fished for crappie at BL. In fact, we leave the ultra lights at home. However, at lower big bay there is a rock point off to the left of the bay (looking in from the water). All along that shoreline 40 yards off shore we marked hundreds of fish. Perhaps that's your mother load! Good luck! FISHNGUY

Fished B/L 6/18 to 6/25. Good weather all week except Thurs. & Fri. the wind blew 20 mph with 30 mph gusts. Water temps. were 66-68 in the am 70-72 in the afternoon.Largemouth caught on Senkos, spinnerbaits & Texas rigged worms. Largest for the week-19 1/2". Northerns hit spinnerbaits and suspending Rapala Husky Jerks & X-Raps [Lg 27"].We caught a couple of S/m bass in areas that we were bass/pike fishing [Lg 2 1/2 Lbs] During the week we got 5 walleyes on the same lures from 20-24's. All fish were released. P.S. I bought a drift sock this year. Money was well spent for those windy days wherever you fish.

Livebait,I have a 16'Sea Nymph w/a 40hp and a drift sock size XL works on my boat. I use one sock. I attach the sock to 15' of 3/8" line with a snap hook on each end. The hooks make it easy to put on or take off. Just put it on a stern cleat or bow eye and you're good to go.

Took a look around the Lake this past Sunday. Black Lake is pretty green and the lake has started it's annual weed die off. Caught a few bass fishing around the docks but all were little. Water temps have dropped into the low seventies but haven't dropped below that yet. With the warm spell we're currently getting I expect the lake to stay pretty green as the water starts to heat up again. Falls coming though and the fishing can only get better. Also noticed a fw docks almost under water, so levels are up a little from the rain we received from Katrina. good Luck All and Tight Lines

The report for the 12th to the 15th. Monday tuff, Tuesday tuff, Wednesday tuff and Thursday tuff. Wednesday evening and Thursday morning the best. Wind, wind and more wind except for today when we had to leave. I think we totaled about twenty fish between the wife and me. 1 nice smallie on a tube, rocky point. 15 LM bass on mostly horny toads fishing the matted weeds and edges. 4 northerns, same areas as the LM bass on the toads and spinnerbaits. Bass were all in the 2lb range and the pike were less then 20 and thin. The toads seem to be a bit thick and make hook sets hard, we missed or lost twice as many as we landed. Water temp in the mid 70's, wind out of the wsw between 15 & 20 most of the week except at dusk and first light. Thats it in a nut shell.. Ridg

Ridg Opps I forgot to say where the fish were caught The smallie was off the rocky point near upper deep bay across from brown bay, 1 lm in the little cove just inside the mouth of Indian river and the rest came from Lonesome Bay on the shallow weedy side from the bus to the next little point north towards the main lake. We started getting fish pretty consistently Wednesday night up til about 8:00pm or when the mosquito's got so freaking bad you couldn't open your mouth without getting your tongue bit. Then right back there at first light and they were still there and willing. We did well enough that we tried to book another night with no luck, no vacancy at the inn!! Bummer Good luck to all that get there after this posting, it should pick up with the water temp coming down.. Wish I had just one more cast!! Ridg

I can picture the scenario.......spitting out skeeteres (and other assorted bugs) on the ride back to camp. I wish I was there....BUT no can do, I did however join you at noon Wed and raised my Diet Pepsi to salute your success, then go figure, your luck then changes!! I would not underestimate the solunar tables, I think (and I am only going on strict recollection) they were in your favor with a full moon timeframe. Did you get a chance to drift Wood Island (to or fro) Orchard Bay with the white roadrunner w/shiner....I am guessing you did not 'cause you did not mention it !! Glad to hear you had a safe trip, hope to maybe hook up some trip in the future. Jim

Jim Didn't get to fish Wood I. this trip, tried Orchard bay on Tuesday and between the low water and high winds, made it tough to control any drift. We were going to give your idea a try and went to the bait shop, not the Cabin but the little place near all the camps, very nice people with good info and no Bull****. We were advised that the shiners, minnows would be a waste of cash because of the water temps. They had people coming back in telling them the minnows were lasting about 2 minutes in the hot, low oxygen water. Next time maybe. Ridg
